Yesterday, at sunset, we saw hundreds of magnificent tundra swans taking off from a farmer's corn field. By now they're usually swimming happily in Gravelly Bay, taking a little break and gossiping noisily about their upcoming trip to the Arctic. Not this year. The bay is still frozen tight after that long, cold winter.
I took these pictures along my walk and added the lilac one just as a reminder. IT'S COMING! IT REALLY IS!
